This position reports to

Field Service Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility. You will be mainly accountable for: • Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points. • Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products. • Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities. • Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor’s Degree on Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical, support, or field engineering position).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field engineering role including a minimum of 3 years of experience performing power systems analysis and a minimum of 1 year of experience in customer support and the development of successful customer relationships.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 60% - 80% of the time within TX, LA, MO, OK, AR, KS, AL, MS, TN regions.
  • Experience with various electrical controls (power delivery) and systems to include: Mid-Voltage Switchgear, Low-Voltage Switchgear, Power Panels & Motor Control Center, Generators & Transformers Maintenance, Automatic Transfer Switches, Electromechanical Repairs, Wiring Diagrams: one line electrical drawings, Blueprints & Schematics, Test Equipment & Instruments, Relay Testing & installation (preferred), Instruments; PLC’s & DCS (preferred) o Parallel Switchgear (preferred), and Variable Frequency Drives (preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in repair troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing of assigned programs/hardware.
  • Project management or supervisory experience (meeting deadlines, resource & budget handling).
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
