Job Description

Talis Group’s client, a fast-growing, high-performance manufacturer in the Louisville area, is seeking a proven Purchasing Manager to take ownership of strategic sourcing and supplier performance. This leader will build and guide a team of buyers, negotiate key supplier agreements, drive cost-reduction initiatives, and strengthen supply chain reliability to support rapid growth.

Salary: $100K + strong benefits package . M-F

HIGHLIGHTED DUTIES:

  • Lead global sourcing strategies for raw materials and finished goods, with emphasis on metal and steel procurement.
  • Personally negotiate pricing, vendor terms, and contracts.
  • Guarantee material availability to meet production schedules and forecasted demand.
  • Analyze vendor pricing and lead cost-reduction initiatives to achieve annual savings targets, including offsetting wage inflation.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce supplier scorecards and contract compliance.
  • Establish and strengthen strategic supplier partnerships while onboarding and qualifying new vendors.
  • Coach, develop, and oversee a team of buyers; manage daily operations and performance.
  • Partner with engineering, production, and quality teams to source innovative materials and components.
  • Monitor global supply chain trends, commodity fluctuations, and market risks to proactively adjust sourcing strategies.
  • Design, manage, and audit ERP procurement workflows to ensure efficiency, compliance, and process integrity.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to anticipate cost or supply impacts.

  HIGHLIGHTED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of sourcing and procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in metal/steel sourcing or commodity-based procurement.
  • Proven track record of price negotiation, contract development, and supplier management.
  • 2–4 years of people management experience, including coaching and performance oversight.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience with TPS / Lean manufacturing tools.
  • Strong ERP systems and process-design experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making capability.
