SUMMARY: This position is responsible for developing, supporting, and troubleshooting the process controls code for process automation at the Louisville, KY site.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Advanced Process Control (APC),
  • Ladder Logic
  • Function block programming standards
  • Knowledge of GE/Emerson systems and software a plus.
  • Wonderware historical data systems also a plus.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices used in the chemical industry
  • Ability to learn the operation of a batch process or continuous process as well as the associated auxiliary equipment used in the chemical industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of process instrumentation and industrial control systems including PLC programming, SCADA/HMI Visualizations and Server infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with motor controls/VFDs, as well as temperature, flow, and pressure transmitters.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a timely manner and react well under pressure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensure that all process operations are carried out in a safe manner and meet all regulatory and industry standards.
  • Design and develop new control systems and automation cycles for the production process.
  • Support existing control systems as needed in a backup role.
  • Analyze, specify, develop and recommend design approaches, and equipment modifications necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes with a focus on the process control and automation aspect.
  • Assist in investigations and corrective actions for process incident investigations.
  • Support process development process and process optimization efforts.
  • Participate in emergency response as defined in the program and training capability.
  • Proactively address and correct all unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Employee may be required to lift 55lbs ladders and carry them at least 40 feet (occasionally)
  • Employee may be required to lift 55lbs between floor and shoulder heights to perform various tasks
  • Employee may be required to perform the following tasks frequently: overhead reaching, bending, squatting, stair climbing, ladder climbing, crawling, kneeling, and stooping
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in process controls related discipline is a plus
  • 5+ years of related experience in an engineering or programming support department.
  • Experience in programming and maintaining plant centralized control systems.
  • Experience in a Chemical or Liquid Manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both written and oral, sound business judgment, strong interpersonal and technical skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to effectively work with customers (internal and external), and to work well with people at all levels of the company.
