This is a direct hire, full-time, on-site position based in Elizabeth NJ .

Position Overview

SGL is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee all warehouse operations in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment. The role is responsible for managing the warehouse team, ensuring accurate inventory and shipment processing through the Warehouse Management System (WMS), maintaining compliance with customs regulations, and driving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in logistics and freight forwarding, and a focus on customer satisfaction, process improvement, and accurate reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping of domestic and international freight and distribution.
  • Manage inventory and warehouse activities through the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring accurate tracking of stock levels, shipment status, and locations.
  • Implement WMS best practices for order processing, reporting, reconciliation, and workflow optimization.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel, assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide training on WMS and operational procedures.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, coaching, and performance reviews to maintain service standards and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with customs regulations, hazardous material handling, and safety protocols.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, carriers, and internal teams regarding shipment inquiries, operational issues, or discrepancies.
  • Resolve operational challenges, including shipment delays, inventory errors, or staffing issues, to maintain continuity of operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, perform cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and prevent loss, damage, or misplacement of freight.
  • Monitor warehouse equipment, coordinate maintenance or replacement, and ensure proper use of tools and machinery.
  • Generate and analyze operational, service, and financial reports using WMS and other tools to track KPIs, labor efficiency, and profitability.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, finance, and vendor teams to support new accounts, pricing strategies, and process improvements.
  • Identify inefficiencies in warehouse workflows and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Enforce safety procedures and OSHA compliance, including proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and facility organization.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse facility that supports operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality order fulfillment while proactively addressing complaints or issues.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in managing warehousing, preferably in airport, logistics, or freight forwarding.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for inventory, shipping, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of bonded Cargo and CCSF compliance a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of freight logistics and customs compliance.
  • Forklift certification is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Proven ability to manage warehouse operations accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
  • Ability to train and coach warehouse personnel and ensure compliance with SOPs and WMS.

Physical Requirement

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively during each shift
  • Able to push, pull up to 2500lbs using manual pallet jacks
  • Able to stoop, stretch, twist, bend, etc
  • Ability to be proactive when dealing with customer complaints or requests
  • Consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts

Work Authorization/security Clearance Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must pass TSA eligibility screening
  • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $85,000 to $95,000

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday
