Job Description:

• Our client is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will collaborate with fellow developers, business analysts, and QA engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain solutions that meet business needs.
• The client's proprietary platform, Prism , is a real-time data fabric and Enterprise Data Federation tool that enables unified access to the organization's data across various systems, including web services, SQL databases, Data Lakes, and more, through GraphQL.
• This tool is crucial for portfolio management, research systems, and individual investors who analyze data using a variety of tools.
• The system requires a highly skilled, collaborative team with expertise in technical, data, and business analysis to ensure its success.

Responsibilities:

• Lead complex, high-priority projects involving AWS-based Java services, React front-end development, Kafka messaging, and more.
• Gain in-depth knowledge of investment data, from portfolio holdings to alternative data.
• Drive the delivery of robust business solutions by contributing to architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Work closely with the Data Experience and Business Analyst teams to collaborate with business stakeholders.
• Design, prototype, and build new software components across the entire stack, including services, web/mobile clients, infrastructure, and backend systems.
• Partner with analyst teams and external vendors to execute test plans and support user acceptance testing.
• Enhance and optimize existing systems to integrate new features and improve performance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and design specifications.

Key Qualifications:

• 10+ years of development experience, with at least 7 years specifically working with Java. Strong memory management and server tuning skills are required.
• Experience with Spring and AWS is essential.
• Expertise in Kafka is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Node.js and React is a plus.
• Experience in the investment services industry, particularly supporting portfolio management applications, is highly desired.
• A basic understanding of GraphQL is beneficial.

Work Environment:

• This position requires working a few days per week onsite at either the Needham or Boston office.
• The interview process includes two rounds.
