Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Energy Efficiency Engineer to perform energy audits within the commercial and multi-family building sectors. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience conducting ASHRAE Level I, II, or III energy efficiency audits (or similar).

Skills & Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant Energy Efficiency Engineering, Project Management, and Sustainability experience. Requires completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability, or equivalent.

• At least 5+ years of experience conducting on-site energy efficiency audits (i.e. ASHRAE level II/III, retro-commissioning, etc.)
• Has deep experience, knowledge, and skills in project management, energy efficiency engineering, and sustainability discipline
• Has strong client management and communication skills and can independently lead client relationships 
• Has experience supporting business development activities
• Works independently with minimal direct guidance from senior staff, determining own work priorities and applying knowledge/skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations
• Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated compliance experience with state/county/local energy benchmarking and building performance standards
• Preference toward individuals with a Professional Engineer license and Certified Energy Manager certificate, Master’s degree, or MBA
• Must live or be willing to relocate to the Denver, CO area
• Comfortable and willing to work in a hybrid environment - 3 days in-office and 2 days at home plus engineering on-site work as required

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Energy Efficiency Engineer with hands-on experience performing energy audits within the commercial and multi-family building sectors.

The optimal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience performing energy audits within a diverse range of commercial facility types and must be able to perform assessments, energy savings calculations and report development with little oversight. Effective candidates will be used to working independently and possibly overseeing the work and development of more junior members of the team.

The position also includes assisting with a variety of energy consulting functions in the planning, design and execution of energy efficiency and sustainability projects. This will include supporting the execution of energy efficiency programs, industrial and commercial building energy efficiency audits, retro-commissioning projects, various certifications, and renewable energy system assessments. This may also include supporting the design and implementation of government or utility energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.

The position will include executing energy efficiency engineering calculations and assessments using engineering, sustainability, or environmental science knowledge and experience with minimal oversight. Effective candidates should also have good client-handling skills and will be expected to support business development activities.
