Senior Superintendent – Commercial Construction

Location: Oakland, CA | Full On-Site Role | Full Project Duration

This well-established general engineering and construction firm has been building in California for over a century, with the last 50 years focused on delivering high-quality projects across multi-family housing, healthcare, education, and civic sectors. Over the past two decades, the company has specialized in affordable multi-family and senior assisted living developments, working closely with non-profit clients.

Projects typically involve 100% affordable, multi-unit housing , including high-density, 5-story Type IIIA wood or light gauge metal stud framing over 1–3 level podium decks . Scope of work often includes demolition, site remediation, ground improvements , and full construction through to certificate of occupancy and project turnover .

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all on-site field operations and the project team
• Develop and maintain a Master Schedule and 6-week look-ahead plan
• Conduct daily updates and maintain a real-time Schedule Impact Log
• Oversee jobsite logistics , manpower, subcontractor coordination, and material flow
• Facilitate all field meetings: weekly foreman meetings, pre-mobilization sessions, and coordination huddles
• Conduct daily safety inspections , enforce corrections, and mentor teams on best safety practices
• Implement and enforce a site-specific emergency action plan in collaboration with the safety team
• Ensure top-quality work with active involvement in QA/QC, RFI reviews, and constructability checks
• Coordinate with inspectors, consultants, and jurisdictional agencies to maintain compliance
• Mentor and guide the Project Engineer and Assistant Superintendent
• Manage production, site equipment, and OSHA requirements for lifts, cranes, and heavy machinery

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Senior Superintendent on commercial construction projects
• Strong background in field management , subcontractor supervision , and schedule oversight
• Deep knowledge of safety standards and quality control procedures
• Experience working with local inspectors and managing compliance with jurisdictional agencies
• Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
• Ability to be on-site full-time for the duration of the project in Oakland, CA
