Senior Estimator Exempt

Purpose of Job:

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for Industrial HVAC system projects, ensuring that all specifications and requirements are met within budget and on time. As a Senior Estimator, you will collaborate closely with Project Engineers, Sales team, Subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to deliver thorough and accurate proposals on industrial HVAC projects.

The Senior Estimator reports to the Construction Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review project plans, specifications, and related documentation to fully understand the scope of work.
• Create scope of work, specifications, and other related documentation for subcontractor bids
• Develop accurate cost estimates for Industrial HVAC projects, including materials, labor, and equipment for Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, and Roofing scopes.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Analyze labor, material, and subcontractor costs to ensure competitive pricing.
• Work closely with Project Engineers to ensure estimates align with project timelines and objectives.
• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain quotes and pricing information.
• Evaluate risk factors associated with each project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Maintain and update a database of historical costs and bid information for future reference.
• Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for both new construction and retrofit projects.
• As needed, perform field supervisor duties on projects with subcontracted installers
• Perform site visits and gather information for the Installation and Sales teams, as needed.

Skill/Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations related to HVAC systems.
• 5+ years of experience in estimating for HVAC, ventilation, or related MEP systems.
• Strong knowledge of industrial HVAC system design and installation processes.
• Proven track record in preparing accurate cost estimates for complex projects.
• Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Self-Starter. Ability to work independently, as well as in a group/team setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• US national travel to worksite locations required. Estimated 25%-50% travel.
• Work is performed in industrial settings, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and airborne particles.
