Job Summary as a Senior Benefits Specialist:

A senior benefits specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of employee benefit programs. They ensure that programs are cost-effective, meet employee needs, and comply with legal requirements. They also work to maximize employee engagement and understanding of the benefits package.

Responsibilities as a Senior Benefits Specialist:

  • Program design : Researching, analyzing, and recommending new benefit programs
  • Program implementation : Working with external vendors and brokers to understand local benefits practices and legal requirements
  • Program administration : Managing the systems and technology that support benefit plans
  • Program evaluation : Comparing existing programs to peer organizations to determine competitiveness
  • Program communication : Providing training and guidance to employees and management on benefit policy and provisions
  • Program budgeting : Developing and monitoring the benefits budget, and ensuring estimates and forecasts are accurate
  • Program compliance : Ensuring that programs comply with applicable laws and regulations

Requirements:

Job Requirements as a Senior Benefits Specialist:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration
  • Experience managing & negotiating with benefits vendors and brokers is a plus
  • CEBS Professional Certificate is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on employee education.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and benefits administration software
