Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Manage weekly multi-company payroll processing, including taxes, garnishments, and benefits.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefit-related inquiries.
• Oversee accurate processing of new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
• Maintain relationships with external providers (401(k), pension, union plans, insurance carriers, etc.).
• Optimize payroll and benefits procedures to align with best practices.
• Maintain HRIS systems and ensure employee records are accurate and up to date.
• Perform regular audits and reconciliations of payroll records, employee files, and vendor invoices.
• Collaborate with department leaders to meet employment and staffing needs.
• Generate reports on payroll, benefits, taxes, and other key HR metrics.
• Lead the annual open enrollment process, including analysis of plan options and costs.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with FMLA, COBRA, FLSA, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
• PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience managing payroll across multiple entities
• Proficient in ADP Workforce Now, and RUN Powered by ADP
• Familiarity with E-Time Enhanced Time and Attendance systems.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
• Experience with HR system implementations or conversions.
• Knowledge of union contracts and their application to payroll and benefits.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
