pattern Maker/Stitcher : Full Time Position

Job Description:

The Chicago Mascot Company is looking for a talented and detail oriented pattern maker with sewing abilities to join the team at our Winter Garden, Florida facility. We are looking for motivated and creative individuals who have experience in garment construction or costumes to join our stitching team. Working with the Stitching team you will pattern and build mascot bodies, hands, and feet from renderings or copy existing pieces that are polished and performer friendly.

Responsibilities:

• Translate renderings and designs into wearable performer friendly costumes using various techniques including pattern making, draping, cutting, and stitching various fabrics such as furs, fleece, lycra, and athletic meshes.
• Use various tools and machinery to complete projects, including, but not limited to, industrial sewing machines, overlock, walking foot, sergers, and cover stitch
• Understanding the use of foam in costumes and working with the foam fabrication team to build under structures
• Record important procedures through paperwork and other documentation
• Work with supervisors, assistants, and other members of the team to complete projects for deadlines
• Maintain a healthy and clean work environment
• Have a positive attitude and be courteous of your fellow workers
• Be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and creative work environment
• Understand and uphold safety standards 

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years related experience
• Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Be able to follow directions and ask questions
• Excellent time management skills
• Be open to learning and adapting to new techniques 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Create accurate patterns based on design renderings or copy of existing costume 
• Make alterations to patterns and garments as needed
• Work with stitching team and oversee construction of costumes 
• Read and interpret patterns with accuracy 
• The ability to sew both by hand and by machine
• Demonstrate experience and knowledge of sewing machines
• Knowledge of shop notions and maintaining inventory
