Job Description

Meridian Church is a Reformed Baptist church in rural southwest Oklahoma, just south of Duncan. We are prayerfully seeking an elder-qualified man to serve our fellowship as a “shepherd in song.” This document gives general guidelines for our search. Specific details will be worked out in conversation with the elders of Meridian Church.

Expectations:

• Personal godliness
• Faithful covenant membership
• Agreement with our Congregational Affirmation, Elder Confession, Covenant, and Constitution
• Elder qualified (1 Timothy 3)
  • Enter our elder apprenticeship (dependent on experience)
  • Later be presented to the body as an elder because of high commendation and experience.
• Know feed, lead, and guard this flock
• Emphasis of shepherding the flock in song
  • Select and lead the congregation in Biblical songs that are theologically rich and gospel-minded
  • Teaching the flock how to sing—Biblically, practically, and Spiritually
  • Building up the church’s musicality
  • “Publishing” our liturgy and preparing various elements for our worship gathering.
• Active participation in members meetings and a life group
• Attend elders meetings
• Flexibly allow four Sundays away with pay. Four additional Sundays in attendance, but not actively leading worship in song from the stage.

Compensation:

• Bi-vocational
• Minimum compensation of $1000 per month.
• More may be considered based on experience, qualifications, and time expected to be devoted to ministry at Meridian Church.
