Job Description

ESSENTIAL SERVICE RESPONSIBILITY

Provide service excellence by discovering problems, needs and opportunities. Build member/employee relationships by exceeding member/employee expectations. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that is professional, polite and respectful towards members, co-workers and management.

POSITION PURPOSE

Under general supervision, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, greets and provides information to members, answers and directs telephone calls, and sorts mail. Maintains the promotional materials in the reception area and responsible for its general appearance. Performs typing and clerical duties as required. Must maintain confidentially and provide privacy of all members' financial information. Understand and offer USPS FCU products to members that will help them achieve financial success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate support for all phases of the member experience.

Accurately respond and resolve members' inquires and requests regarding their accounts.

Greets members/visitors, ascertains their needs, notifies appropriate employee that member/visitor is present.

Assists Member Service Department, as requested, including assistance with automobile titles.

Responsible for maintaining the reception area in a neat and orderly fashion and ensuring that displays are adequately stocked. Update rate board monthly.

Performs a variety of general clerical tasks as assigned (types correspondence, reports, letters, files insurance correspondence and membership applications, etc.).

Responsible for completing mortgage verification and deposit requests.

Sorts mail, receives packages and notifies addressees of deliveries. Change addresses, flag accounts or return mail.

Post deposits, loan payments, account withdrawals, process line-of-credit advances and line-of credit reviews. Responsible for member service supplies.

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Participates with security alarm testing and reporting.

Completes and passes on-line training courses, as assigned. Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new operational procedures.

As time permits, performs duties as stated on the PSR 1 job description.

Assists other branches during personnel shortages, as assigned by management.

Performs other duties which may be assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services and products. Understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements, and required loan documentation. Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices. Familiarity with financial service functions, policies, and procedures.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

COMMUNICATION: Frequently conveys detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly. Excellent communication skills at an effective and understandable level. Must interact well with others and be able to resolve interpersonal conflicts. Must be able to resolve conflicts with difficult members.

HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive information.

REPETITIVE MOTION: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

VISUAL ABILITY: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products and to operate machinery.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. Occasionally required to walk, stoop or kneel.

WORKING CONDITIONS

No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office). The employee

frequently works near the various moving mechanical parts of standard office equipment and is

frequently exposed to computer monitors. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, copier fluids or other common chemicals used within an office environment. A potential risk of electrical shock is always present when working with any electrical instrument.

MENTAL ACTIVITES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to successfully handle a variety of variables under only limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions. Ability to function effectively under stressful conditions. Ability to handle difficult and dissatisfied individuals in relation to Credit Union matters.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY: Ability to compute discount, interest, and

percentage.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines and instruction manuals. Ability to prepare memos, reports and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar. Ability to communicate directly with appropriate pauses, emphasis, and variation in word order using present, past and future tenses.
