YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU:

• Teach fundamental middle school math concepts like ratios, proportions, expressions, equations, and number systems through engaging, hands-on activities
• Develop a culturally responsive curriculum that connects mathematics to students' lived experiences and utilizes diverse problem-solving approaches
• Inspire students to wrestle with challenging problems and think critically about multiple solution pathways
• Demonstrate infectious enthusiasm for mathematics that instills confidence and meaningful engagement in all learners
• Meet weekly with your principal and instructional coach to analyze student work samples and assessment data to drive instruction
• Learn and apply differentiation strategies that ensure every student can access and excel in mathematics
• Develop positive relationships with students to make them feel seen, valued, and heard in your classroom
• Partner with families to ensure adequate resources and support are available for each child's learning journey
• Serve as an exemplar of our core values while actively supporting student progress through school-wide initiatives
• Collaborate with your grade level team to set academic objectives and implement effective teaching techniques
• Create a classroom culture where mathematical discourse and mistake-making are celebrated as learning opportunities
• Use real-world applications to help students understand the relevance of mathematical concepts in their daily lives

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree (minimum)
• NJ Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (Certificate of Eligibility acceptable)
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate across lines of difference
• Subject matter expertise in middle school mathematics
• Team-oriented mindset with high expectations for students
• Understanding of adolescent development and mathematical learning progressions
