Era Living is seeking a full-time Terrace Recreation Assistant II to become the newest member of our Life Enrichment team located in our Ida Culver House, Broadview Community, Seattle, WA. We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and team-oriented person to brainstorm new ideas, plan and implement activities, and help enhance the quality of life of our residents.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Terrace Recreation Assistant II supports the Life Enrichment program in our memory care unit, providing direction in the general recreation program, the physical fitness program, or the cognitive enrichment program. All duties must be performed while ensuring resident safety, maintaining confidentiality, and showing sensitivity to the needs and concerns of older adults.

  • Coordinate and lead group, individual and resident orientation activities
  • Coordinate events, including booking, catering and advertising
  • Provide clerical support
  • Document resident participation
  • Oversee Cognitive Enrichment, Physical Fitness and Social programming

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with all residents, employees, family members and visitors
  • Possess and maintain a valid WA State Driver License and driving record compliant with Era Living Qualified and Authorized Drivers policy, required; must be 25 years’ old
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to pass DSHS background check, required

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • CTRS preferred.
  • Previous experience working with older adults or persons with cognitive impairments, preferred.
  • Required:
  • First Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days of hire
  • Washington State Alcohol Permit or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Possess or able to obtain as soon as possible upon hire:
  • Complete Caregiver Dementia and Caregiver Mental Health training within 120 days of hire
  • Must complete 70 hour course to earn a long term care aide certificate within 120 days of hire ** Not required if worked in boarding home setting in 2011
  • Complete 12 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) yearly (completed by birthdate)
