Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to represent a hospital near Gainesville, FL, seeking a Medical Technologist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join their Microbiology Department. This position offers a variable shift schedule and is ideal for candidates with expertise in bacteriology, mycology, virology, and molecular diagnostics.

Position Overview:

• Perform microbiological testing and analysis, including culture setup, organism identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and molecular diagnostics.
• Process various specimen types (blood, urine, respiratory, wound, and sterile body fluids) according to CLIA, CAP, and hospital guidelines.
• Utilize automated and manual microbiology methods for pathogen detection.
• Perform and document quality control and instrument maintenance to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Interpret and validate test results, investigating discrepancies as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to provide timely and accurate microbiology results for patient care.
• Maintain inventory of reagents, media, and consumables, ensuring proper storage and availability.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and assays to maintain efficiency in workflow.

Candidate Profile:

• Florida Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician license required.
• National certification (ASCP, AMT, or AAB) highly preferred.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field as required by CLIA.
• Experience in clinical microbiology, including culture reading, susceptibility testing, and molecular diagnostics is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS).
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Salary/Benefits/Shift:

• $52k–$84k DOE
