Job Description

Aegis is seeking a Machine Shop Manager for a client of ours in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate would have the following experience and skills:

• 5+ years of experience in machining or steel manufacturing. At least 2 years in a management position.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machining, manual lathes, and mills.
• Leadership- large team atmosphere here- they have machinist who have been there for 30+ years. (the oldest machinist is 88 years old). Managing 6 supervisors across 3 shifts. This will grow depending on the persons experience.
• NOT a desk jockey- this person gets an office in the machine shop but, they need to be communicating with machinist, offering help, checking in on them, etc.
• Proven track record of managing teams in a manufacturing environment
• In-depth knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software- Soildworks.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Microsoft office experience.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma- do not need any specific black belt or anything like that.

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related.
• CNC Programming.
• Working with SAP.
