Job Description

ATA Services, Inc. is currently seeking to hire a LPCC/Clinical Social Worker to work on a temporary position in Las Cruces, NM to work on a temporary assignment with the State of New Mexico – Department of Health.

  • Pay Rate: $55.00 per hour with weekly pay.

We are looking for an LPCC/Clinical Social worker who can provide mental health screening and referral services to refugees in Las Cruces. Additionally, this person will be responsible for cultivating a network of mental health professionals able to serve refugees in the southwest and southeastern portions of the state. This individual will need to be an independently licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC) .

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • Maintain licensure to practice in the State of NM and appropriate professional insurance.
  • Work under the direction of the Refugee Health Program Manager in collaboration with identified Regional Public Health staff and community-based partners.

Perform the following work pursuant to approved policies and procedures set forth by Agency:

  • Complete training as identified by the Refugee Health Program (RHP), including but not limited to, Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) training and civil rights training.

  • Follow specialized procedural and institutional polices, as identified by the Program and/or regional staff, that may include Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) in accordance with Agency requirements; Refugee Health protocol, professional publications and journals, and Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) recommendations.

  • Provide behavioral health screening, assessment, and case coordination services to eligible populations in the Southwest and Southeast Public Health regions who are identified through the initial health/mental health screening, by Refugee Health Nurse(s), Resettlement Agency (RA) or by other sources. Travel to the Southeast Public Health Region may be necessary if telephonic screening is not optimal for the client.
    1. Assure that clients are eligible for services under the Program and have received their initial health screening (medical and mental health) at the Agency Public Health Office.
    2. Review and discuss results of initial health screenings with Refugee Health Nurse(s) on an ongoing basis to determine which refugees may require coordinated health and mental health services to address complex health needs.
    3. Provide referrals for refugee mental health treatment to participants in the Refugee Health provider network, as appropriate.
    4. Provide case coordination services to facilitate access to mental health treatment and support services to include: work with mental healthcare providers and/or Managed Care Organization (MCO) care coordinators to schedule appointment; ensure client is aware of date, time, and location of appointment and communicate the importance of attending the appointment; collaborate with appropriate agencies to ensure translation and interpretation services are available for client appointments; follow-up with client and/or provider to ensure client attended scheduled appointment.

  • Provide technical assistance to Refugee Health Program regarding development/implementation of mental health best practices for refugees.

  • Maintain database of refugee mental health related data utilizing a tracking system identified by the Refugee Health Program Manager. Data shall include, but is not limited to:
    1. Client demographics (name, date of birth, country of origin, gender, refugee status);
    2. Results of diagnostic evaluations;
    3. Dates of service;
    4. Use of language interpretation services;
    5. Date and type of follow-up services and referrals;
    6. Documentation of mental health case management services;

  • Participate in monthly Refugee Health Provider meeting and communicate with Program Manager regarding participation in other community meetings.

  • Promote emotional wellness among refugees through non-clinical interventions, including but not limited to, suicide prevention trainings, community adjustment groups, support groups, individual psycho-education sessions, decompression sessions, or similar activities.

  • Collaborate with refugee Resettlement Agency and other community partners to provide mental health resources, training, and other educational information during Cultural Orientation sessions and other settings.

  • Build capacity and sustainability of the Refugee Health Provider Network through the following:
    1. Design and/or implement refugee-specific behavioral health educational trainings and curricula based upon identified training needs of the audience and the Program. Topics may include but are not limited to: Introduction to refugee mental health, how to support the cultural and linguistic needs of refugees, refugee resettlement practices in New Mexico, and Refugee Health and Mental Health referral processes.
    2. Award Continuing Education Units to training participants (nurses, social workers, counselors, therapists, and social workers) as appropriate.
    3. Copy and disseminate to training participants appropriate training materials such as PowerPoint, handouts, agenda, and other resources.
    4. Identify and recruit new mental health providers who are interested in serving refugees in New Mexico.
    5. Provide on-going technical assistance and consultation to providers within the refugee mental health referral network to promote access to mental health services for refugees and increase capacity and competency among providers who serve this this population.
    6. Facilitate and schedule quarterly Refugee Mental Health Task Force meetings to provide forum for mental health providers serving refugees to identify challenges and possible solutions to promote effective refugee mental health service provision for refugees in New Mexico.
    7. Develop and maintain a directory of mental health providers who serve refugees using a format that is approved by Program. Directory shall be located on the Refugee Mental Health shared drive and should include, but is not limited to: provider name, business name, address, phone number, email address, and specialty or services offered.

  • Provide the Agency any media presentations, training programs (PowerPoint, agenda, evaluation forms, participant lists), training materials, brochures, and any other materials or programs, which are developed under this Scope of Work or through the budget of this contract.
