Job Description

Summerfield Trading - General Manager

About Summerfield Trading

Summerfield Trading is a specialty procurement business providing white glove service to high-end clientele. We source and deliver premium plant material, outdoor furniture, and containers for design projects and clients across the country. With strong relationships with growers, nurseries, and vendors, we make sure the right products reach the right projects—on time and with the quality and care our clients expect.

We’ve built a solid foundation: a strong book of business, loyal clients, and trusted vendor partnerships, with the backing of Hoerr Schaudt, an award-winning national design firm. Now we’re ready to scale—expanding our client base, reaching new markets, and building a business that stands on its own in the marketplace.

That’s where you come in.

About the Role

We’re looking for a proven business builder—a General Manager with a track record of growing and scaling a business or division. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll set the roadmap for growth, lead a small but mighty team, refine our systems, and create new opportunities. You’ll work closely with the Executive Team but have the freedom to own the day-to-day and make your mark.

If you’ve built revenue streams, led teams, and successfully scaled a business from a strong foundation to the next level, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

Drive Growth & Strategy

  • Own and execute the business plan to grow revenue by 30–50% over the next 3 years.
  • Identify opportunities for new markets, partnerships, and offerings.
  • Build and roll out sales and marketing strategies that attract new clients while deepening ties with existing ones.
  • Track and respond to industry trends to keep Summerfield ahead of competitors.

Lead & Grow the Team

  • Manage and inspire a team of 3+ employees, with responsibility to scale headcount as the business grows.
  • Recruit, mentor, and coach talent in a high-performance, client-focused culture.
  • Create clear roles, scorecards, and accountability measures so everyone knows what success looks like.

Run the Business

  • Take full ownership of the P&L ($5M+ to start, with growth targets) and deliver profitability.
  • Simplify and strengthen processes, workflows, and systems for efficiency and scalability.
  • Roll up your sleeves — no task is too small when building momentum.
  • Introduce tools, metrics, and reporting to measure and accelerate growth.

Be the Face of Summerfield

  • Represent the company with confidence in client meetings, vendor relationships, and industry events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, sister companies, and partners.
  • Protect and promote the Summerfield brand across everything we do.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in business management, operations, or sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • A proven record of scaling revenue and driving profitability, ideally in a specialty services, procurement, or design-adjacent industry.
  • Demonstrated success owning and managing a P&L of $5M+.
  • Experience building teams, systems, and processes from the ground up.
  • Strong vendor and client relationship skills, with proven ability to deliver white glove service to high-end clientele.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset—you know how to build, grow, and adapt quickly.
  • Confidence representing a business externally and growing its reputation in the marketplace.

Why Summerfield

  • A rare chance to take a business with an established foundation and scale it to the next level.
  • Direct access and support from an engaged Executive Team, without corporate red tape.
  • A culture that values ideas, ownership, and action.
  • Competitive salary with performance-based growth incentives—your success will be tied directly to the company’s success.
