About the Opportunity:

We’re partnering with a well-established and growing general contractor in New York City that specializes in commercial, residential, and institutional construction. They’re seeking an experienced Estimator with strong local market knowledge to join their preconstruction team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved early in the project lifecycle and wants to work with a leadership team that values accuracy, initiative, and long-term relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates from schematic through final design.
• Analyze drawings, specs, and proposals to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Work closely with project managers and principals during bid reviews.
• Track historical costs and maintain estimating databases.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed.

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, ideally in NYC.
• Strong understanding of local vendors, subcontractor pricing, and building practices.
• Proficient in reading plans and specs across multiple project types.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, etc.).
• Detail-oriented with strong communication and time management skills.
• Experience estimating both public and private sector projects is a plus.
