Engineering Manager
Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Manager to lead engineering projects from concept to implementation within our warehousing and transportation solutions. The role involves overseeing various initiatives, including new facility startups, process refinement, and infrastructure development. You will work with operations that range from basic manual pallet movements to complex omni-channel operations, which may involve automation solutions such as conveyance, sortation, and robotics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Engineering Manager include, but are not limited to:
Designing and mapping processes and value streams, as well as assessing the effectiveness of current methodologies.
Conducting assessments, designing, and building infrastructure for startups, upgrades, and maintenance, specifically in environmentally controlled warehousing in a cGMP environment.
Demonstrating a solid understanding of financial aspects related to various pricing methods (management fee, unit rate, storage and handling, etc.) and utilizing pricing models to cost solutions effectively.
Performing space planning and layout design, with proficiency in CAD software.
Overseeing multiple projects, including business expansions, WMS upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Upholding the company's reputation by delivering innovative solutions while ensuring compliance with local and national regulations, including fire suppression systems, security, and building codes.
Collaborating with cross-functional and external teams (real estate, IT, operations, transportation, HR, accounting, etc.) to ensure comprehensive pricing quotations.
Acting as a liaison with vendors and contractors to define, bid, and negotiate on storage and material handling equipment.
Analyzing and interpreting client data and conducting onsite visits to gather information while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
Presenting information clearly and confidently to internal leadership, external clients, and vendors.
Creating viable solutions to improve production and reduce waste, with a focus on developing actionable plans.
Utilizing basic and advanced calculations to assess current and potential productivity levels of processes.
Employing analytical skills to evaluate project progress and interpret data for reporting to company decision-makers.
Researching and testing design concepts to determine feasibility, applying lean manufacturing, kaizen, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis to support innovation and improvements.
Identifying opportunities to prevent waste and inefficiencies during production.
Developing and implementing process improvements and technological upgrades.
Designing facility layouts and determining personnel requirements.
Partnering with technical subject matter experts to establish detailed technical process flows, business architecture, integration requirements, and decision points for the WMS solution.
