DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT & DATA SCIENCE

$250,000 - $275,000 BASE + BONUS + EQUITY

SAN FRANCISCO, CA I HYBRID

An exciting opportunity building data science products focused on AI/ML and commercializing the products with the goal of accelerating bioprocess development. Establish and roll out the data science initiatives for the company and clients alike!

THE COMPANY

Leading the charge in bioprocess development for fermentation and biologics, the company differentiates itself by building bio-reactors in house for customer use. Forming strategic partnerships with companies from small biotech firms to large pharma organizations to commercialize the use of their bio-reactors, they enhance customer service offerings, innovate upstream bioprocessing, advance development, manufacture new therapies, and more specifically. With a team of 10 engineers, this company is in need of a strong leader to establish a data team outside of engineering.

THE ROLE

As Director of Product & Data Science, you'll drive data science initiatives focused on AI/ML, aligning data science solutions between internal capabilities and customer needs. You can expect to be doing the following...

  • Standing up ML/data science & customer analytics capabilities; meeting biopharma customer needs, steer the direction of technology advancement & AI/ML tooling decisions within the company itself
  • Working with customer data across biotechnology & pharmaceutical sectors to build commercialized data science products; gathering understanding of customer data science needs & building revenue-generating products internally
  • Insights, recommendations, & enhancements; working with bioreactor experimentation data to gather & extract insights with the goal of enhancing product development internally and for customers
  • Lead an existing team of 2 engineers & grow data science headcount

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

  • 6+ years of experience in a data science role, 3+ years management experience in established ML/data science functions experience
  • Bachelors Degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, etc.), a must
  • Biopharma experience, a must
  • Data architecture & cloud experience, AWS ideally
  • Ability to work with customer teams, both technical and non-technical
  • Proactive problem solver excited about the opportunity to build something from the ground up
