Job Description

A clinical diagnostic testing lab is growing and this Microbiologist will validate assays and conduct standard microbiology testing in support of testing development initiatives.

Work Schedule

• 5 days, 40 hrs/week: Includes Saturdays, Sundays, and 3 weekdays of your choice (i.e Weds-Sun or Thur-Mon or Sat-Weds, etc.)
• Days: 9am-5pm

This role is Contract-to-Hire.

Responsibilities:

The Microbiologist will conduct testing on human specimens (urine, blood) and validate microbiological assays according to GLP.

• Microbiology testing techniques include:
• > AST (antibiotic susceptibility testing) including MIC, and Disk Diffusion / Kirby-Bauer
• > Bacteria culture / fungal culture and organism growth
• > Anaerobic growth
• > Organism Identification
• Develop and maintain control organisms in Aseptic environment
• Identify issues adversely affecting test performance.
• Assist with quality improvement activities.
• Identify test system deviations.
• Write and edit SOPs.
• Work independently at the micro bench on Saturdays and Sundays.

Qualifications:

• 1+ year of recent clinical microbiology lab experience
• Demonstrated experience with microbiology lab skills including Bacteria Cell Culture, Aseptic technique, Organism Identification, and AST (Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing)
• Experience conducting organism growth using Anaerobic Chamber.
• Bachelors in Microbiology or similar field
• Prior experience testing human patient samples (urine, blood) highly Preferred

• Position pays a 20% Shift Differential when working weekend hours
