Job Description

Position: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Team Structure:

• 7 Medical Oncologists (Med Oncs) and 7 Medical Assistants (MAs)
• Each doctor is supported by a nurse and an MA
• Collaborative and supportive environment

Patient Load:

• 18-25 patients per day

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all chart preparation with assistance from APP or other nurses
• Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate
• Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
• Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician
• Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols
• Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist
• Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN
• Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows
• Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception, as requested by supervisor or physician
• May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision

Qualifications:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• 1+ years of experience as a CMA
• Experience in a clinic/outpatient setting is preferred
• BCLS or CPR certification within 6 months of start date
• Computer savvy, with experience working in Athena daily
• Self-starter with a good work ethic, organized, and professional
