Drafter

Contract $20-$28/hr

We are seeking an entry-level drafter to join a structural engineering firm in Northbrook, IL.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret architectural drawings as well as prepare drawings to use as backgrounds.
• Examine electronic drawings and other supporting documents to verify dimensions, construction systems, and requirements for materials
• Determine procedures and instructions
• Produce structural drawings (floor plans and details) using computer-aided drafting tool
• Gather engineering redlines and review them before issuing drawings.
• Make changes to construction documents as needed.
• Utilize x-refs/links to create the structural set and import PDF files into AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Identify potential issues and brainstorm with the design team to improve project design efficacy.
• Ensure that all layouts and blueprints oblige with industry standards.
• Maintain effective communication with the design team
• project progress and schedule
• Produce structural sections and elevations when required
• Attend in-house meetings for CAD/Revit-users as well as participating in professional development activities to keep up to date with industry changes
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Structural/Architectural Drafting, Construction, Building Information Modeling (BIM), or related field preferred.
• Certification from an accredited CAD or Revit Program
• 1 - 2 years of experience in drafting required
• Basic understanding of construction systems
• 5+ years of experience with CAD
• 2+ years of experience with Revit
• Superb verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Sharp time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to juggle quality and speed to understand the importance of productivity
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiar with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and/or similar PDF producing software
