Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Pay: $17-19 per hour; will convert to $45-47k upon permanent hire

Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Process: One in-person interview, background check, and credit check upon offer

Vaccination Requirement: Not required

About the Role:

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join their team in Gaithersburg, MD. This is a contract-to-hire position that offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in accounting while supporting day-to-day administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enter vendor invoices and other payables into the accounting system in accordance with company procedures.
• Sort and organize documents such as purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, and checks, routing them for appropriate review and approval.
• Assist with month-end close activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Reconcile credit card statements and assist with related accounting tasks.
• Answer phone calls and provide general office support as needed.
• Schedule Webex calls and teleconferences for team members.
• Process purchase orders and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
• Follow company protocols for accounting and administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

• 3-6 months of light accounting experience (must have basic accounting exposure).
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop is highly preferred.
• Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll be interacting with various teams and assisting with scheduling and guest coordination.
• Must be proactive, organized, sharp, and able to quickly learn new tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be comfortable working in a medical lab environment that uses animal tissue (no live animals).
